Experiencing BBL Broadband Light with R·Medy Aesthetics

As long as I can remember, I've had very rosy cheeks. From childhood, I remember adults telling me I'd never have to spend a penny on "rouge". While I've gotten away with having lots of colour in my face for my whole life, I've started to notice some changes in my skin as I get older. This is to be expected and while it doesn't really bother me, I wanted to see if there was something I could do to reduce or remove the damage that had come from having lots of redness in my skin over the years. I've never been a sunbather, as I burn very easily, and I always wear sunscreen, so I didn't have that much sun damage. However, I started to see broken capillaries become much more prominent on my cheek bones. Seeing these broken capillaries is what motived me to seek out a treatment that could remove them.

This week I had my first ever BBL Broad Band Light treatment at R·Medy Aesthetics in Burnaby. Upon entering their luxurious facility, I was greeted with snacks and refreshments that I enjoyed in the lobby. They brought me in for my appointment right on time and explained the BBL procedure to me and showed me some before and after pictures. Prior to my appointment, they let me know how to prepare my skin. This included avoiding sun exposure 4 weeks prior to the treatment, avoiding skincare with active ingredients 3 days prior, and hydrating well leading up to the appointment. After explaining the procedure, I was given some samples to use that can help cool the skin after the procedure.

Once my consultation was done, they took my photos for before and after and we headed into the treatment room. Jamie was the technician who did my treatment and I felt very safe in her care. She explained everything to me, prepped my skin and coated it in a cooling gel. Once that was already, she began with the BBL treatment. BBL is the newest technology for reducing pigmentation and brightening the skin.

The benefits include:

  • Targeting brown and pigmented areas

  • Even out skin complexion

  • Calm redness from rosacea (my main concern)

  • Remove vascular lesions (my other main concern)

  • Remove sunspots and age spots

Jamie gave me an example of how bright the laser is before starting on my skin. I was wearing goggles and while it was bright, it really didn't bother me. I also found the procedure to be nearly painless. I wouldn't say it was painful, more slightly uncomfortable for a moment and then it would go away. Jamie put heaps of cooling gel on my skin, which felt absolutely amazing. Once we were done, my skin felt great. I was worried it would be really irritated, but it actually looked like it was glowing. Jamie explained the post treatment care to me, which included avoiding heat and wearing make up for 24 hours and no exfoliation for 1 week.

Later that night as I was getting ready for bed, I washed my face with a gentle cleanser, used the serum they had given me and used my ice roller to calm my skin down, which felt incredibly soothing. It's been two days since my treatment and I've had little to no irritation on my skin. The only peeling I've noticed has been on my nose, and it hasn't been major. To see results from BBL, they recommended about 3 treatments.

Overall, my experience at R·Medy Aesthetics was absolutely divine. I felt like a VIP the whole time and I trusted that I was in good hands with my skin. Check them out at https://rmedyaesthetics.com/ !
